What's up! Kyle here.

I want to talk about the single most overlooked asset in almost every dental practice I've ever worked with.

It's not your website or your ads. And it’s not your Google Business Profile.

It's the list of patients already in your practice management software who haven't been back in 6, 9, 12+ months.

These aren't strangers. These are people who already found you, already walked through your door, already sat in your chair and already trusted you with their health. They didn't leave because they hated the experience. Life just got in the way. They forgot or procrastinated. They told themselves they'd reschedule next month and next month never came. This happens ALL THE TIME.

Even more than you think. According to the Journal of the American Dental Association, the average practice retains just 41% of patients beyond their first visit. That means a majority of people who have visited your practice are sitting in your system right now doing nothing.

Here's the best part. Reactivating one of these patients costs virtually nothing compared to acquiring a brand new one. You already have their name, their number, their email, their treatment history. You don't need to convince them you're a good dentist. They already know. You just need to remind them you exist.

So here's what I'd do this week if I were you. It’s exactly what we do when we run Reactivation Campaigns for our practices to pump some easy revenue during a slow period.

Step 1: Pull The List

Open your practice management software and run a report on every patient who hasn't had a visit in 6+ months. In most practices this list is hundreds of names long. Some of you will see thousands.

Step 2: Start With A Text

Not a generic "It's time for your cleaning!" blast. A personal, human message.

"Hey, hey [first name], it's been a little while since your last visit with us. No judgment at all, life gets busy. We'd love to get you back on the schedule whenever you're ready so you can move it off of your to-do list. Here's a link to book online: [link]. Hope you're doing well!"

That's it. The "no judgment" line matters more than you think. A lot of these patients feel guilty for waiting and that guilt is what keeps them from calling.

Step 3: Follow Up With The Ones Who Don't Respond

Wait 5-7 days. Send a second text or an email to anyone who didn't book.

"Hey there [first name]! I just wanted to make sure my last message didn't get lost. We've got some openings this month and would love to see you. No rush, just wanted you to know the door is open and we can be flexible with times right now: [link]."

Two touches. That's all it takes to bring back a significant chunk of your inactive list.

Step 4: Make This Recurring , Not A One-Off

The practices that stay full don't run reactivation campaigns once a year when the schedule looks empty. They run them every single month or at least every quarter. Set a recurring task for your team and make it automatic. It’ll become one of the most reliable schedule-fillers you have.

Here's the math. If you have 500 inactive patients and even 10% of them rebook, that's 50 appointments you didn't have to pay a single dollar to generate. No ad spend. Just a text message to someone who already trusts you.

It’s like when Ryan says to Michael that it’s 10X more expensive to sign a new customer than retain a current one. Speaking from the marketing side, I can assure you it’s 10X more difficult to land a new patient than to get a current one back in your chair.

Before you spend another dollar on marketing, go look at the goldmine already sitting in your system. I guarantee it's bigger than you think.

How many inactive patients do you think are sitting in your system right now? 100? 500? More? Hit reply and tell me, I read every single one. I can give you a quick tip to reactivate them and pump some revenue.

And shout out to everyone that hopped on with me last Thursday night.

Talk next week.
