Dentists, Make This 5-Second Update TODAY

Far too many dental practices make this mistake.

Read Time: 43 Seconds

Most dental offices don’t realize this, but Google decides who sees you based on one single setting inside your Google Business Profile.

And if it’s wrong? You might be invisible to the very patients you want most.

Do This Now

➡️ Log into your Google Business Profile from the dashboard.

➡️ Click the pencil icon next to your practice name.

➡️ Click on Business Category and you’ll get a text field.

👉 Make sure your Primary Category matches the type of patients you want first.

  • If you’re focused on in and out family dentistry, keep it as Dentist.

  • If cosmetic cases are your highest-margin priority, set it as Cosmetic Dentist.

  • If you want to dominate emergency calls, Emergency Dentist is an option.

Google uses this as the #1 signal to match you with patient searches. Get this wrong, and you’re showing up for the wrong intent or not at all. And if you don’t choose the category, Google will auto-match with what they pull from your website or listings.

Why It Matters

We see it all the time. A practice set to ‘Cosmetic Dentist’ while the office down the street is listed as ‘Dentist.’ Guess who shows up for all the “new dentist for my family” or “best dentist near me” searches? Not the first one!

This takes literally 5 seconds to update, but the impact can be thousands of dollars in new cases.

This week was a nice, quick win for you.

Next week, we’ll go a long-form and walk you through what a day in the life of a dental marketing agency looks like.
