Google Is Adding New Features To Dental Business Profiles

From fake review detection to auto-replies and calling tools, here’s what’s rolling out or already live.

Most of the changes Google rolls out in Business Profiles go unnoticed. But the new changes in the pipeline may end up being very useful for dental practices.

Here’s what’s happening, what’s already in motion and what you should start doing now.

1. Catching Fake Edits & Reviews

Google is using Gemini-powered models to detect suspicious profile edits and fake reviews. They’ve removed millions of reviews this year alone.

That means your profile’s integrity matters more than ever, one bad review or change can raise flags. Do not skirt the rules when it comes to Google reviews.

2. Enhanced Search + Calling (AI Mode)

Google recently announced that Search now has capabilities to call local businesses for pricing or availability automatically as part of their AI experience.

That makes your Business Profile the interface for live interaction, not just a standard listing with information.

3. Smarter Content & Review Replies

They are allowing more and more third-party tools to integrate into your Google listings. These tools can auto-reply to reviews, flag negative reviews for someone in your office to look into and pump out fresh content for the listing.

4. New Posting & Engagement Tweaks

Some users report Google has cleaned up the Posts tool in GBP. It’s now one unified feed with an easier interface and easier access for updates.

That suggests Google is leaning into listing content as part of engagement, not just basic info. We aren’t ready to take that leap yet as we haven’t seen any ranking incentive to do so but we have our eye on it.

Reminder: Last week, we released our 10-Page Future Of AI Search report. Lots of you asked for it! If you missed out and want a free copy, email me at [email protected] and I’ll send it over.

So, what should you do now?

  1. Clean & Lock Down Your Profile

Fix inconsistencies like hours, categories, contact info and descriptions. This information needs to be consistent across all listings and digital properties. As we’ve mentioned before, please make sure your Primary Category is correct!

  2. Use AI-Assisted Tools Wisely

Tools like GMBapi, Zapier or Birdseye can save time and maintain quality but always review at least weekly to make sure everything is behaving correctly. If you work with us, we white-label these solutions as part of your package.

  3. Update Profile Content

Use Posts if you really want to. We don’t as of yet but it’s not going to hurt anything. But make sure FAQs are accurate and that images and brand assets are updated and accurate. AI platforms WILL cite these.

  4. Monitor The “Ask For Me” Rollout

Google’s new AI can call businesses on behalf of users to check availability. It’s currently being tested and will become a larger and larger part of your new patient inflow. Make sure you are taking full advantage.

If you want to be certain you or your team are taking full advantage of these to maximize your new patient numbers, email me today and I’ll audit your New Patient Pipeline.

Your Google Listing is the north star for your practice in the eyes of Google and as of right now, AI Search. You need to make sure that information is accurate, up to date and fully optimized to take advantage.

It’s a competitive world out there right now to land new patients. Do yourself every favor that you can.
