Why That Other Practice Is Booking Your New Patients

What if I told you that 1 minute per week could 100X your marketing return? Well, it might.

Read Time: 1 Minute, 36 Seconds

Ever wonder why another dental practice down the street seems to be booking more new patients while your Google Ads feel like they’re…burning money?

It’s not luck. It’s not even because they’re better at dentistry.

It’s because they (or their agency😉) actually know what they’re doing with Google Ads.

The “Set It & Forget It” Trap

Most dentists who run Google Ads, or hire a blanket agency, fall into the same trap:

🚩 One Generic Campaign

🚩 Send All Traffic To Home Page

🚩 Target Everyone With Blanket Audience

🚩 No Negative Keywords = Wasted Budget

The result? Ads that don’t convert and a practice that keeps wondering why “Google Ads don’t work.” Then you fall into the trap where you spend more, thinking that’s the problem. Rather than zeroing in on the actual issues and identifying where the money is being wasted.

How Smart Practices Win More Patients

Winning dental practices don’t let Google Ads run on autopilot. Here’s what they do differently:

✅ Multiple Ad Campaigns – Targeting specific services (implants, emergencies, cosmetics) separately to match intent from the initial search. The messaging and hooks need to be different, depending on the searchers specific need. If the user searches for a family dentist and your landing serves them emergency services, you have set money on fire.

✅ Dialed-In Audience Targeting – Focusing on high-intent patients near your practice. If you are serving ads to people that will never conceivably visit your practice, you are setting that money on fire.

✅ Negative Keywords – This is choosing keywords that you do not want to rank for and locking out those irrelevant clicks. Examples would be ‘free dental’ or ‘cheap dentist’ or ‘diy whitening’ - along those lines. They can very easily end up in other keywords groupings, also setting money on fire.

✅ Matching Landing Pages & Search Intent – Similar to our first point, if someone searches “same-day emergency dentist,” they shouldn’t land on your generic homepage, or a landing that focuses on family dentistry, or teeth whitening. If they do, you know what happens to that money…🔥

The Bottom Line

The right patients are searching for a dentist right now, and every day until the end of time. If your Google Ads aren’t set up correctly, they’ll book with someone else—maybe even your competitor a few blocks down.

Want To Fix That?

Here’s our testimonial of the week, coming from at Cosmetic & Implant Dentistry in Kansas City, MO! 🦷

We actually work with a handful of practices under the Acts Management DSO banner. The people at each practice, and within the DSO itself, are incredible. They make our job so much easier with the attention to detail and speed they show, and that carries over to their patients as well. We’re a proud partner!
